Your job as a logistic coordinator for Médecins Sans Frontières
(MSF)
As a logistic coordinator (LogCo), you will be
responsible for the logistical support given to MSF’s projects in a
country. Your duties will include the managing of supplies, local
and international orders, and transport and communication
resources. Security-related tasks may be delegated to you. You will
support the technical and administrative logisticians working in
the projects on management of supplies, stock-keeping, maintenance,
construction and other logistical challenges. You will supervise
and support teams consisting of international and local staff. You
will be part of the management team in the country where you are
posted, and will be based in the capital. At this level, you will
interact with other national and international actors and main
suppliers. You will liaise with all relevant authorities to
safeguard the supply process to and within the country.
Requirements for LogCos with MSF
- Demonstrable experience in setting up and
managing logistics systems and administrative procedures, planning
projects and managing a team
- At least 1 year’s experience in a management
position within the field of logistics for MSF or a similar
humanitarian organization
- Capacity to act as a link between MSF and
international and national partners and as a skilled negotiator
with various actors
- Strong analytical ability and strong skills
in the use of spreadsheet software
- A resourceful, creative and independent
attitude to help you realize objectives in resource-poor
environments
- Experience in training, coaching and
supervision of subordinate staff
- Work or travel experience in developing
countries
- Ability to cope with stress and to organize
and prioritize workload independently
- Ability to work in an international team
- Willingness to work in an unstable and
insecure environment
- A good command of the English language
- Availability of at least 12 months
Assets
- Work experience within a medical
environment
- Work experience within insecure and unstable
environments, such as conflict zones or natural disasters
- A good command of the French language
