Your job as a nutritionist for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)

As a nutritionist you will be responsible for analyzing the food security and nutritional situation in a project area as well as for initiating and supervising feeding programmes. You will supervise and conduct research at population level and contribute to policy proposals for projects. You will train, supervise, coordinate and coach local staff. Data collection, analysis and reporting are an intrinsic part of the role. Furthermore, you will be responsible for forecasting nutritional supply needs and managing nutritional stocks.

  • A bachelor’s degree in nutrition and preferably a relevant supplementary course or module on nutrition in developing countries
  • A minimum of 2 years’ relevant post-qualification work experience
  • Demonstrable knowledge of epidemiology, statistics and sociological research methods
  • Knowledge of and experience in all elements involved in research: data collection, analysis and reporting
  • Experience in training, coaching and supervision
  • Ability to look at situations from a fresh perspective and use creativity to solve problems
  • Ability to deal with unforeseen, often stressful and difficult situations
  • Work or travel experience in developing countries
  • A good command of the English language
  • Availability of at least 12 months

 

Assets

  • Demonstrable experience in the use of Epi-Info and Microsoft Excel software
  • Work experience in a similar non-governmental organization abroad
  • A good command of the French language
