Webinar Sudan: medical care in a forgotten crisis (ENG)
De datum is gepasseerd
Over the past three years, the news surrounding Sudan has remained relatively quiet while one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises is unfolding here. Healthcare has largely collapsed and people are in need of assistance. Millions are fleeing violence, hunger and diseases. Neighboring countries such as Chad, South Sudan and Egypt are sheltering Sudanese refugees, often in overcrowded camps. What are our teams witnessing there? And what does it mean to provide emergency medical care in a crisis that remains largely out of sight?
During a special webinar on June 30th, we took our donors and supporters behind the scenes of our emergency medical relief work in Sudan. Our colleagues will give you the latest updates and explain how we continue to provide medical care, what difficult choices we face every day, and what that means for patients. What to expect:
- An interactive panel discussion with Donna Senders (moderator), Joyce Bakker (medical emergency coordinator), and Karel Hendriks (Director of Médecins Sans Frontières Netherlands). They will share insights into the challenges, creative solutions, and the impact of our work in Sudan and beyond.
- An up-to-date briefing from Sudan: our colleagues will share what they are currently witnessing and where the most critical medical needs lie.
- Insight into the reality behind the crisis: with discussions on how medical care continues when hospitals temporarily close, become unsafe, or even disappear.
- What this crisis means for people and medical assistance: with stories and examples that demonstrate why medical care is life-saving, and how our teams continue to provide medical emergency aid in a constantly changing situation, thanks do our donor support.
