Ons bestuur

Het bestuur van de Vereniging Artsen zonder Grenzen zorgt ervoor dat de directie het overeengekomen beleid uitvoert. Daarnaast bewaakt het bestuur onze identiteit. Statutair is het bestuur van de Vereniging Artsen zonder Grenzen samengesteld uit minimaal zeven leden die worden gekozen door de Algemene Ledenvergadering. Het bestuur kiest jaarlijks zijn voorzitter uit de gekozen bestuursleden.

Antoine van Sint Fiet, Bestuurslid Artsen zonder Grenzen

Antoine van Sint Fiet

President (elected 2024)

Antoine van Sint Fiet is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist committed to humanitarian work and global mental health advocacy.

From 2015 to 2017, he served as a Mental Health Activity Manager with MSF in India, Syria, and Turkey, where he led counseling teams, developed mental health programs for victims of war and violence, and implemented projects addressing HIV, MDR-TB, Hepatitis C, drug abuse, and gender-based violence.

Currently, Antoine leads a team at ARQ Centrum’45, treating refugees with psychotrauma. As chairman of the clinical council at ARQ, he provides strategic advice on patient care and workplace safety. He has also trained mental health professionals in Sudan and South Sudan and served on the Board of Trauma Aid Netherlands.

He is a proud father of two boys and enjoys traveling and sports.

Antoine will took over from Jesse Wambugu as President of MSF-NL on 01 July 2025.

Nestley Songco Vice-voorzitter bestuur Artsen zonder Grenzen

Nestley Songco

Vice President (elected 2024)

Nestley Songco is an HR professional with extensive experience in global humanitarian organisations. He joined MSF-OCA in Amsterdam in 2010, holding roles such as Emergency Desk Personnel Advisor and Operations HR Advisor. He later worked with MSF-OCP for the Tokyo cell before managing regional HR and psychosocial initiatives for the SEEAP Project under MSF-Japan, Australia, and Hong Kong. In 2023, he returned to MSF-OCA as the interim Deputy Staff Director.

He is currently the Global Director of People and Culture at War Child Alliance in the Netherlands, overseeing HR, safeguarding, integrity, learning and development, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Nestley holds an MBA from Monash Business School (Australia) and is an Agile Scrum Master. Certified by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), Nestley continues to coach MSF colleagues globally. He is also working toward a postgraduate diploma from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

Sarbani Bhattacharya

Treasurer (co-opted 2026)

Sarbani has built a distinguished career across Unilever, KPMG and ASML, with deep expertise in financial consulting, strategy, M&A and digital transformation. As Executive Director of ImpactXXL, she advises companies on financial impact, go‑to‑market strategy, international expansion, cross‑border investments and ESG requirements. She combines strong financial acumen with strategic perspective and hands‑on leadership.

She is actively engaged in the social impact sector through non‑executive roles, including Chair of CARE Netherlands, lead of the CARE International Governance Committee, Chair of the FINISH Mondial Supervisory Board and Treasurer of Tropenbos International. Her work centres on systemic change, social and financial inclusion, poverty reduction and sustainable investments in education, sanitation and health.

An award‑winning academic, Sarbani is married with two adult children, proudly Indian and considers the Netherlands her second home.

Linda Kuipers Secretaris bestuur Artsen zonder Grenzen

Linda Kuipers

Secretary (elected 2024)

Linda Kuipers has over 20 years of experience in communication and fundraising for humanitarian organisations. She began her career in the Netherlands as an editor-in-chief, creating impactful TV programs for charitable causes. She has since worked with organisations like UNICEF, Oxfam, and the Dutch Postcode Lottery—MSF’s largest donor.

In 2019, Linda earned a post-academic degree in Philanthropy and joined MSF Netherlands, where she played a key role in advancing funding strategies and donor partnerships. In 2024, she transitioned to freelance consultancy, advising humanitarian organisations on fundraising and communication.

She also dedicates time to volunteer work, serving as a Board member for a refugee-support NGO in the Netherlands and a grant-making family foundation.

Charity Kamau

Charity Kamau is a senior healthcare leader with over 15 years of international experience in healthcare systems. Her expertise spans program management, policy advocacy, and strategic leadership, with a focus on strengthening healthcare systems and driving sustainable reforms. A

At MSF, she held diverse positions, including project coordinator in South Sudan and Nigeria, laboratory advisor in Amsterdam, and board member with MSF Netherlands. She also contributed to the MSF We Want to Be committee.

Today, Charity serves as Head of Programs at the Kenya Healthcare Federation, where she leads initiatives in healthcare governance, health systems strengthening, private sector engagement in Universal Health Coverage, and policy advocacy. Her work is defined by her ability to foster collaborations, lead high-performing teams, and drive impactful policy changes to improve healthcare systems globally.

Jesse Wambugu

Board Member (elected 2023)

Jesse Wambugu is a business executive and public health professional with over 20 years of experience in the health sector. He has managed humanitarian projects across multiple continents, including conflict and emergency settings.

At both international and national levels, Jesse has led the development and implementation of new diagnostic tools across Sub-Saharan Africa. He joined MSF in 2003 as a Field Laboratory Scientist, with assignments in South Sudan, Uzbekistan, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and the DRC. By 2008, he transitioned to Project Coordinator, serving in South Sudan and Haiti until 2010.

Jesse holds an Advanced Diploma in Biomedical Sciences, a master’s in international public health, and is an International Coaching Federation-certified executive leadership coach. He is passionate about his daughters, loves the outdoors, and is an avid conservationist.

Jesse held the position of President on an interim from 01 November 2024, until 01 July 2025. He was succeeded by Board Member Antoine van Sint Fiet.

Laura Kant

Board Member (elected 2025)

Laura is a humanitarian safety and security advisor with nearly a decade of experience in conflict and disaster-affected contexts. She has expertise in project management, operations, humanitarian affairs, and advocacy. From 2016 to 2018, she worked with MSF as a Supply and Logistics Assistant, and from 2018 to 2024, she held project coordination roles in Nigeria, India, DRC, and Kurdistan, as well as supporting MSF Amsterdam headquarters and OCA intersectional initiatives.

In 2018, Laura co-founded the MSF Green Elephant Network, advocating for sustainability within MSF by connecting operational sections, project staff, and home societies to promote “green” initiatives.

Currently, Laura works as a Security Officer at the Netherlands Red Cross. Her interests include visual storytelling through documentaries and photography.

Maarten de Jong, Bestuurslid Artsen zonder Grenzen

Maarten de Jong

Board Member (elected 2024)

Maarten de Jong is an infectious disease epidemiologist and public health specialist with extensive experience in outbreak control and operational research. He has worked with MSF and other NGOs in sub-Saharan Africa, Ghana, South Sudan, Haiti, and Iraq.

In the Netherlands, Maarten has worked in medical centres specialising in stem cell transplantation, antibiotic resistance, and clinical trials. He is currently an epidemiologist at the Public Health Service Amsterdam and is pursuing a PhD on detecting infectious disease outbreaks through wastewater analysis in both high- and low-resource settings.

Maarten is passionate about music, sports, and spending time outdoors with his family.

Marianne Weijers, Bestuurslid artsen zonder Grenzen

Marianne Weijers

Board Member (elected 2024)

Marianne Weijers is a healthcare professional with a background in nursing and educational coordination. She is currently the Coordinator of Workplace Learning with Learning Technology at mboRijnland in Leiden and serves as a Senior Lecturer in Care & Welfare. She is also part of an innovation team developing care solutions in collaboration with industry partners.

Her educational background includes a post-graduate diploma in Community Health from Hogeschool Leiden and a BSc in Nursing from Hogeschool InHolland. As an MSF Board member, she aims to enhance the organisation’s outreach and professional image within the medical community.

Marianne lives near the sea and woods with her husband and four sons. She enjoys playing music in a local big band and loves tennis.

Rashed Mohammad Mahfuzullah, Bestuurslid Artsen zonder Grenzen

Rashed Mohammad Mahfuzullah

Board Member (Elected 2023)

Rashed Mohammad Mahfuzullah is a medical doctor and public health specialist with 12 years of professional experience. He served MSF for six years in all five OCs, covering refugee crises, urban health, and planetary health. His roles included Medical Activity Manager, Deputy Project Medical Referent (PMR), and PMR. He was particularly involved in the Rohingya refugee crisis and the unique occupational and environmental health challenges in Kamrangirchar.

Rashed specialises in occupational and environmental health and has also studied disaster management, tropical medicine, and international relations. He has developed occupational health

protocols and educational materials and recently completed his second master’s degree in Global Health.

Sunita Baskar Abraham, Bestuurslid Artsen zonder Grenzen

Sunita Baskar Abraham

Board Member (co-opted 2023)

Sunita Baskar Abraham is a medical doctor with over 15 years of experience in health and development. Since joining MSF in 2010, she has held roles including Medical Doctor, PMR, Deputy MedCo, and MedCo.

From 2014 to 2023, Sunita served on the MSF South Asia (formerly SARA) Board, including two years as Chair, representing the Regional Association at the OCA Council. Her expertise spans strategic planning, country operations management, project monitoring and evaluation, and networking. She has led hospital and health program implementations with a focus on tropical and neglected diseases.

Sunita is passionate about improving healthcare access for people in crisis.

Vincent Hoedt, Bestuurslid Artsen zonder Grenzen

Vincent Hoedt

Board Member (elected 2022, re-elected 2025)

Vincent Hoedt was elected to the MSF-Netherlands Board in June 2022 after being co-opted in April.

After studying Tropical Agriculture, he joined MSF in 1996, working for a decade as a logistician, WatSan Emergency Coordinator, and Head of Mission in DRC, Sudan, and Colombia. In 2006, he became an Emergency Manager at MSF-OCA’s Emergency Support Department (ESD), later serving as Head of ESD until 2015, opening the missions in Syria, Libya, and more, as well as leading the response to the Haiti earthquake.

After a short break, he became Deputy Director of Operations in 2016, a position he held until 2020.
